How to list products on Blinkit — and why listing isn't the finish line.
Creating the listing is the straightforward part. The two things that actually determine whether it sells happen after it goes live, and neither shows up in your seller dashboard.
The listing itself
Listings are created in the Blinkit seller portal once your business is onboarded. You'll be submitting catalogue data — product titles, images, pack sizes, pricing, category placement and compliance information — and Blinkit reviews it before products go live. There is no published turnaround time; it varies by category and catalogue completeness.
Get the basics right, because they are cheap to fix now and expensive later: accurate pack size and unit, images that meet spec, a title a shopper would actually search, and correct category placement. A product in the wrong category competes against the wrong shelf.
Listed is not stocked
This is the distinction that costs brands the most, and almost no guide on this keyword makes it.
A listing makes your product available to Blinkit. Whether any given dark store carries it is a separate decision, made store by store. Every quick-commerce order is fulfilled from the store nearest the shopper, so a product listed nationally but stocked in six of nine stores in a city is simply not purchasable by everyone the other three serve.
Your sales data cannot reveal this, because you see the orders you got — never the orders that were never possible.
Stocked is not visible
Even where you are stocked, each dark store ranks its own results and sells its own sponsored placements. From our reads of nine Blinkit stores in Bengaluru:
- The largest advertiser in a category held between 31% and 100% of its paid placements. In granola bars, one brand held every paid slot we counted, while seven other well-known brands ran none.
- 10 of 81 store-searches had no advertiser at all — uncontested shelf, if you know which stores.
So a listing can be live, stocked and still invisible, because a competitor is renting the space above it. Details in who's actually buying the Blinkit shelf.
A sane first-30-days checklist
- Verify coverage per store, not per city. Find the stores where you're absent.
- Check who owns your category's paid slots before setting an ad budget.
- Fix titles to match real search terms, not internal product names.
- Re-check after two weeks. Assortment and advertisers both move; one read is a photograph.
